7 Best Toys for GR8 Puppies

Puppies love toys. And since we love puppies, we want them to have as many toys as possible. The best way to keep a puppy occupied – and out of trouble – is to have plenty of toys for them to chew on and play with. Get a variety of textured toys to make sure they don’t get bored and mix it up every once in a while to keep them interested in their toys.

Each of my puppies has had a favorite type of toy, but changing them out and not letting the puppy have all their toys all at once keeps them interested in the toy they are playing with at the time. I always recommend supervising puppies while they play with their toy. And whichever toy or toys you decide to get, make sure you get the right size for your puppy.

Kong Puppy Durable Rubber Chew and Treat Toy

Hands down the best toy ever, Kong toys are made of long-lasting rubber that stands up to even the toughest chewers. You can toss them for your puppy. They are delighted with the wonky way they bounce around. But even more importantly, you can stuff them with treats and give them to your pup to chew.

The best advice I ever got from a dog trainer was to get my pup addicted to a Kong. It keeps them occupied for hours as they work to get the treats. It's also great for lowering your dog's stress levels.

Multipet Nuts for Knots Ball Dog Toy

Made from a knotted rope, this ball will give your pup hours of chewing pleasure. It doesn’t squeak, and it’s not bacon-flavored, but dogs seem to love it anyway. The toy helps your pup release pent-up energy and the fibers of the rope massage gums suffering from teething pains.

It’s better than a regular rope toy that often turns into a tug-of-war game since tug-of-war is not recommended for young puppies. Unless your pup is a devoted shredder, this toy should last a while.

Nylabone Just for Puppies Key Ring Bone

Just like teething babies, teething puppies can test your patience. Just know that this stage doesn’t last forever. If your puppy is teething, choose a toy that will save your sanity and your table legs, shoes, and anything else your puppy decides to chew on. This toy fist that description.

The textured keys with different grooves and nubs soothe achy teeth and gums and the shape lets your dog get a good grip on the toy.

Himalayan Edible Dog Chew

Edible chew toys are great, but the key is to make sure they are long-lasting. You never can tell, so you do have to try them out. I’ve had two dogs of about the same size, one was a chewer who mowed through edible chews, and one took her time.

These are long-lasting and all-natural, made from cow and yak milk, lime juice, and salt. The slightly smokey scent will have your dog doing the happy dance for this edible chew toy. They come in several sizes, so be sure to get the right one for your pet.

West Paw Tux Dog Chew

This one is for lab pups and other insatiable chewers. If your pup is a powerful chewer, I feel your pain. Toys that other dogs enjoy for weeks are destroyed in the blink of an eye. This one has what it takes to stand up to tough gnawing and constant chewing.

It is non-toxic and made from BPA-and-Phthalate-free material, so it's safe for those tough chewers out there. You can stuff the center with their favorite treat or toss it the pool for those water dogs – it floats.

Nina Ottosson Interactive Puppy Toys

While puppies like and need to chew, they also need to activate their brains. These interactive puzzles do just that. The Interactive Brick Toy is great for keeping dogs of any age busy and happy. It engages your dog’s brain and body, helps prevent and reduce behavior problems, and strengthens your bond with your dog.

Multipet Loofa Dog Plush Toy

Plush toys are great for puppies. They can carry them around, shake them, toss them in the air, you name it, they’ll do it. You can play fetch with them using the plush toy. My gang likes the Mutlipet Loofa Dog toy. The long body lets them get a good grip on the toy.

My boy likes to carry his around, and my girl usually rips hers apart and pulls the stuffing out of it. They come in different colors and different textures, all with that doggy-dog grin.
