It’s essential to any relationship that you find ways to show your partner you appreciate them. It’s also important that you share words of affirmation with them. Words of affirmation are one of the five love languages, and they can make all the difference in your partner’s day.

Every person has their own love language, and if you aren’t sure what your partner is, take this quiz to find out. No matter what answer you receive on the quiz, each of the love languages is just as important as the next.

Flip through the slideshow below for some of the best affirmations to share with your partner.

"That meal was amazing!"

If your partner shows love through acts of service, such as cooking dinner, this affirmation acknowledges their work and shows appreciation. Every cook loves a good compliment, and it shows that you recognize they did something just for you.

While you might not be able to say a meal was "amazing" every time. Saying "thank you for cooking," each time they do so is a way to show continued appreciation.

"Thank you for taking the garbage out."

It might seem like a simple, everyday action, but doing chores around the house is another act of service. It's a way that partner's show the other they care. If your partner always does the dishes, fixes leaky faucets, or takes the garbage out, acknowledge them each time.

Sometimes as relationships progress, we forget the little things. Thanking them lets them know that no matter how much time has passed, you still value their contributions.

"I can't wait to spend time with you this weekend."

For those whose love language is spending quality time, this affirmation helps reinforce that you value the days you get to spend together. With busy schedules, it can be hard to block out time for just the two of you, but it's important for a healthy relationship. Letting your partner know that you're excited to be with them and only them is a GR8 way to make them feel special.

"I love spending lazy Sundays with you."

For those whose love language is spending quality time, doing nothing together is just as valuable as doing something extravagant together. Sometimes even more so. Let your partner know that you love spending time with them even when you're just lounging around in your sweatpants binge-watching TV. It shows that you enjoy their company, no matter where you are.

"You are so sweet for bringing home ice cream."

Did your partner stop on the way home and grab your favorite pint of ice cream as a surprise? It's a form of gift-giving, which is another one of the five love languages. Let them know that these small gestures don't go unnoticed. When they've gone out of their way after a long day to stop and grab a special surprise for you, it will mean a lot when you take the time to let them know you appreciate it.

"I love this watch you got me."

Even if the watch is from two holidays ago, complimenting a gift your partner got you makes them feel good. If their love language is gift-giving, reinforcing that you're aware of the thought they put into picking out a present. If they bought you a necklace for a special anniversary or birthday, thank them for it each time you put it on. No gift is ever too old to keep admiring.

"I love holding your hand."

For those whose love language is physical touch, let them know you love their small acts of affection. Whether it's in public or while you're lying on the couch, small gestures like these help keep the intimacy alive. Better yet, let them know you love holding their hand as you reach for theirs yourself.

"You give the best hugs."

Another way to acknowledge your partner's GR8NESS. Let them know their hugs are better than anyone else's. After years in a relationship, physical touch can become routine. Be sure to let your partner know that it's just as meaningful as it was on day one.

"You look GR8 today."

For those who express love through words of affirmation, giving them a verbal compliment will put a smile on their face. It's important to offer compliments like these on your average days, not just when you're dressed up for a party. Is your partner in their pajamas first thing in the morning? Let them know how amazing they look right then.

"I believe in you."

Letting your partner know that you believe in them is one of the most important words of affirmation that you can share in a relationship. Your partner is just that- a partner. They need to know that you stand by them, support them, and are there for them to help them achieve their dreams and goals. Never stop letting your significant other know that you believe in them no matter what.
