The holidays are almost here, which means it’s time for celebration. Aldi Grocery Stores knows what the holiday season entails. Wine. Lots of Wine. The mega-chain is launching a free wine course for hosts who are looking to provide guests with the perfect pairings at holiday get-togethers.

Of course, if you’re not hosting a get-together but want to brush up on your sommelier skills, the online course is perfect for you too. Best of all, it’s available online so that you can become an expert right from your couch in the comfort of your pajamas.

The Perfect Pairings

From holiday hams and roasted turkeys to hors d’oeuvre plates packed with meats, cheese, nuts, and crackers, the food possibilities are endless. Decadent chocolate cakes and creamy custard pies, you never know what will appear at a holiday feast. Chances are you can’t wait to indulge.

With tastes that range from savory to sweet, or salty to citrusy, the flavor combinations are just as complex. So, what wine should you pair with such an assortment of food? Aldi is here to save the day.

A Journey of Discovery with “Aldiploma”

Aldi’s free wine course takes you on a journey through six different aspects of wine education. Designed for even the most novice wine-lovers, by the end of the journey, you’ll know what wine to buy to complement each holiday dish.

The free wine course teaches users about the various kinds of wine and how to decipher the labels. We all know the feeling of walking into a store with rows and rows of wine bottles, not knowing what to choose. Learn about the different flavors of wine, and get a food pairing cheat-sheet to make the experience easier on yourself. After all, your time should be spent enjoying the holidays and not stressing over buying that perfect bottle.

You’ll learn about red wine versus white, sparkling versus flat, and the flavor notes that come with each. If you’re interested, Aldi has an assortment of “Wine Discovery Cases” available for purchase so you can sip as you go.

The course is hosted by Aldi’s dedicated wine expert, Sam Caporn.

Common Questions About Wine

When it comes to wine, many people have questions. Some of the most common questions about wine include:

  • Do I refrigerate white wine?
  • Can wine go bad?
  • How do I store a bottle of wine that’s already been opened?
  • Is aged wine better than newer wine?
  • Are champagne and prosecco the same thing?
  • What is aerating the wine, and do I need to do it?
  • Should I use a wine decanter?

The list goes on, and we’re right there with you. There are so many questions about just one product, it can seem overwhelming, and when the pressure is on to host the perfect holiday, it can be stressful. Don’t let it be. With Aldi’s free online wine course, you’ll be an expert in no time.

And hey, in the end, is there ever a bad bottle of wine?
