We’re all adoring if not outright obsessed with our pets. They become integral parts of our lives, and to some, family (I have yet to hear an argument otherwise). We care for them deeply, but as life has it, caring for them becomes another part of our busy days. How can we know if in the midst of chaos, our pets are being fed correctly?
Make Sure They are Eating Right
At times, feeding our pets can transition to something that is done automatically, and not entirely reconsidered as time goes on. This is important as changes in our pet’s behaviors, and physical symptoms can be indications of an underlying disease or a simple fix such, as the way they are fed.
Be Mindful about Their Eating Patterns
It’s easy to fall into the habit of giving into their adorable faces when you know they’d like a bite. Your pet may also know how easy this is, but sadly, they cannot (and probably wouldn’t) tell you they’re not eating right. Make sure you’re not making common feeding mistakes with your pet.
Follow Instructions
Most pet foods contain instructions on the weight and size of the pet. However, it is important to take activity level into consideration as well. Changes in your pet’s behavior or physical appearance may indicate overfeeding or underfeeding. Take the quiz to find out if it’s a possibility.
The only way to know for sure if your pet has a healthy diet is by consulting with their veterinarian.
