Confidence is so vital in all areas of your life and without it, you will not be able to achieve as much as you would have otherwise. Sadly, not all of us are blessed with confidence for one reason or another but there are ways that you can build this up. Carry on reading to discover the keys to building self-confidence
Look for the good in situations
If you are negative about everything, this is also going to make you negative about yourself as a person, which is going to do nothing positive for your self-confidence. It’s really important that you try and push any negative thoughts to one side and look for the good in every situation that comes your way.
Identify your good attributes
We all have good attributes but sadly those with low self-confidence struggle to see what they are. This could be a particular skill you have, your caring nature, your good sense of humor or something else entirely. If you are struggling with this, ask somebody you are close to what you are good at and hopefully, you should hear lots of positive things.
Practice affirmations
Affirming yourself basically means making yourself believe in the good attributes that you identified previously. Every morning, you should say affirmations to yourself out loud and/or write them down. These could be things like “I am a good friend, “I am good at making people happy,” and even more important, “I am confident.” If you are new to affirmations, this might be a little uncomfortable, but it really works. Why you might be wondering? If you tell yourself something enough times, it will come true.
Surround yourself with supportive people
Some people with low self-confidence are this way because of the people around them. Take a look at the people around you including your closest friends and family. Do they build you up or bring you down? It’s vital that you have good people in your life and don’t be afraid to remove toxic people if they are affecting your confidence.
Do something new every day
Some people struggle with being confident because they never put themselves out of their comfort zone. It’s so important that you do something new and something that scares you as often as possible. This doesn’t have to be anything major like doing a bungee jump (although you could work up to that).
It could be something like making a phone-call that you have been putting off or wearing that outfit that’s a brand- new style to what you usually would wear. These new things will show you that you are capable of so much, which in turn is vital in building self- confidence.
No matter what kind of life you’ve had, it’s never too late to build up your confidence. Putting the mentioned steps into action and just putting yourself out there, in general, is going to be really beneficial in how you see yourself and therefore, how others see you.
