When you hear the term “chiropractor,” you probably think of back adjustments and neck pain. But what about your gut? Can a chiropractor help with digestive issues? Studies say yes, they can.
The Spine-Gut Connection
It turns out that problems with your spine can affect your gut, causing impaired bowel and colon function, stomach pain, and more. This is because the health of your spine dramatically impacts your nervous system, which your gut depends on to work correctly. When your nerves aren’t sending the correct signals to your gut, problems start.
Are you experiencing these symptoms?
Digestive issues can manifest in a variety of ways. You may experience constipation, diarrhea, unexplained stomach pain, frequent heartburn, or acid reflux. If these symptoms are chronic or seem never to go away, it may be a sign of spine misalignment.
Of course, gut issues can result from a variety of other health conditions, but if you’re also experiencing back pain, it’s worth a trip to the chiropractor for an evaluation.
