Science has plenty of doubts about these brain-training apps, and they can’t seem to agree on a concrete verdict. Some studies have found brain games help to improve executive functions, processing speed, and working memory, primarily in young people.
A team of Australian researchers believes some brain training apps can help with processing speed only. This group thinks training apps that boost brain stimuli improve neuroplasticity, which is the ability of the brain to form and reorganize synaptic connections.
Another group of experts believes the ones that benefit the most from these games are seniors since it helps them preserve cognitive health. Finally, you have another group that is not entirely against them but doesn’t believe there’s scientific evidence to back the claims these games make. The study concluded that brain-training games didn’t boost cognition in young adults.
