If you’ve ever wondered if you have the guts to be different, you do. No matter which way you slice it, we all have variances in the bacteria present in our guts. A subdivision of these differences exists between those with female reproductive and digestive systems and their male counterparts.

This distinction is central to understanding how probiotics affect the body differently between men and women. Probiotics are beneficial to all people for regulating gut health, which is affected by everyone’s genetic makeup and environmental influences, as well as heart function and mineral absorption.

Battle of the GI Differences

The way that the female reproductive anatomy interacts with their digestive tract is what sets probiotics for women apart. The female anatomy is primed for childbearing, and it turns out probiotics can have a lot to do with this. Hormone fluctuation, tendency to experience digestive difficulty and heightened sensitivity to certain stimulants are a few key traits of the unique needs of the female anatomy. The right probiotic can even help women struggling with fertility.

What about Men?

While women experience more issues in their lower digestive tracts like constipation and irritable bowels, men experience more in the upper GI like acid reflux. This is why the type of probiotic strain being ingested is imperative to the benefit that the individual is seeking.

Strains that are designed with respective health concerns in mind are the strains we should get behind.
