Have you heard the term burnout and thought, oh no, I hope it’s not me? Getting wrapped up in a delicate balance between work and play can seriously take a toll. Often, it happens right under our noses while we’re focused on eight hundred other things. Let us guess if this is you.

The Balance Beam of Play and Work

Many things in life that are worth doing require balance. Balance is the ability to manage multiple and often opposing aspects that make up a greater experience. The balance between work and personal life is challenging.

Your Time, Your Choice

Work is, in essence—not exactly a choice, but it kind of is. Social and personal life are the same. There are aspects of each of these things that we do choose, as well as aspects that we have little to no control over. One might argue that everything in life is a choice, but when it comes to work-life balance, it’s fair to argue that sometimes we might have choices that don’t exactly feel like choices.

How to Find Work-Life Balance?

This is where things can get murky. If it’s all kind of a choice, how do we learn how to hit the mark? Trial and error are effective, sure. Some can achieve balance after years of trying; others find methods like meditation to make it happen. But what happens when you’re just so far in the weeds that you can’t even tell if you’re stuck, let alone how to emerge from it? This is where burnout begins.
