Whether you’re new into this crazy fitness world, or you have a couple of competitions under your belt, at one point we all need motivationals. In my case, that fitness motivation came in the form of “I’m a Survivor” by Destiny Child. Once that song came on, I quickly moved through the positions at my indoor cycling class, and for the first time, I wasn’t on my saddle – that makes me a survivor, right? But, what do you tell yourself when you’ve come up with a million excuses to miss your workout?

The truth is that motivationals are powerful tools; we must learn how to channel them properly. The power of music when you’re in a yoga class versus when you’re doing weightlifting is amazing to experience. Soothing music helps us channel our inner yogi and stay calm, leaving the day’s stressors by the curb. Pumped, high-intensity music is the one we need for running on that treadmill and bring on the heavy metal if you’re lifting weights. Right?
