If you’re a busy person then you probably don’t have a lot of time to spend on preparing fast and healthy meals each day of the week. Modern life can be hectic and often doesn’t leave you with much time for elaborate cooking. Taking a few shortcuts in meal preparation can often save you time that you might need to spend elsewhere, so here’s some fast and healthy meals tips to help prep that lazy cooks with busy lives should find useful.

Fast and Healthy Meals To Save Time

Take a shot a few of these quick and easy meals that are not only good for you, but also help free up some time in your day while saving you some money.

Oatmeal

For a quick breakfast just put half a cup of raw oats into a jar, top it with milk, and let it sit in the fridge overnight. By morning you’ll have a tasty breakfast meal ready to go to power you through your day. Add honey to sweeten it. You can also add in some crushed nuts and dried fruit for extra taste and nutrition.

Roasted Vegetables

Vegetables are full of vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber. Roast up a big batch on the weekend and put them in the fridge to add to meals throughout the week.

Hard Boiled Eggs

Eggs are full of protein and are relatively low calorie at around 78 calories per serving. They’re also fast to prepare, only taking around three to five minutes to cook, and they go with a variety of meals. Boil some up and keep them in the fridge to use to make fast meals over a period of a few days. Sprinkle some spices on top to add variety.

Baked Sweet Potatoes

At the start of the week bake a few sweet potatoes in aluminum foil and put them in the fridge to add to your meals. Sweet potatoes are a great source of protein, fiber, and vitamins including vitamin A which is good for your immune system among other things. You can reheat them and add some spices and butter for flavor or eat them cold.

Trail Mix

Make up a big batch of trail mix and put it into several smaller containers to use as snacks throughout the week. Having a healthy alternative to junk food snacks can reduce the temptation to snack on less nutritious foods, so having trail mix handy for a quick food fix will help you manage your weight and stay well nourished. If you want something you can take with you on the go, then buy some snap-lock plastic bags and fill them with the mix.

Iced Tea

For a fast and convenient beverage just make a big jug of iced tea for a healthy drink that will serve you throughout the day. Simply boil eight cups of water, add six bags of your favorite tea once it’s done boiling, and then let it steep for four minutes. You can let it steep for longer if you prefer a stronger tea. Remove the teabags, let it cool down, and then put it in a pitcher and store it in the fridge. Flavor it however you like for a tasty drink.

A Note from GR8NESS

A bit of planning and work preparing and cooking your meals at the start of your week can save you a lot of time in meal prep throughout the week. It can also stop you from relying on less healthy foods to keep your body powered up and the pangs of hunger at bay. Lazy cooks are smart cooks if they use their time effectively and efficiently when preparing meals, so don’t be afraid to take a few shortcuts in your cooking with these fast and healthy meals.
