Mental health is one of those things. It’s almost as though it works in the background of our lives undetected until the moments in which we must draw upon it for strength or reflection. It’s one of those things that can go unnoticed until something good or really bad happens. However, the truth is— it’s all about perception and mental state. Care to know where you might stand? Take the quiz.

Why Assess Your Mental Health?

Our mental health affects everything in our lives. It relates to our physical health, relationships, work-life, coping mechanisms, and more. Choosing to avoid its place in our lives serves no one, and alternatively, doing so serves everyone around us.

The easier time we have with our own mental clarity, the better we can show up to every obstacle and moment we live through. Caring for and attending to mental health is critical for healthily progressing through life.

If You’re Struggling with Mental Health

Having poor mental health is not always a dramatic spiral down into darkness. Sometimes a declining mental state can look like someone who seems to have it all together, someone who is successful and manages their way through tough times. Everyone is susceptible to the risk of struggling with mental health, and no one should ever feel ashamed for it. Some ways to address mental health concerns are:

  1. Preventing burnout
  2. Learning what’s blocking happiness
  3. Limiting the impact of external factors
  4. Learning how to cope with stress healthily
  5. Knowing when it’s time to see a professional

All of these can be done with the assistance of a mental health professional. Keep in mind that a mental physician is the only one that can accurately assess your mental health. Never think twice about seeing one, it can never hurt.
