Self-care has made a name for itself, that is for sure. It’s a simple concept that is also abstract, yet seems to continue to grow and remain relevant. Do you think it’s here to stay?
The Self-Care Boom
While some are in celebration of self-care, recognizing it as a lifestyle, or the many ways it can impact life, others may not be. In understanding self-care, it is critical to note that its meaning has as many definitions as people who practice it.
For this reason, one might infer that because of the frequent evolution of the word, perhaps it can maintain its relevance as time progresses.
What Could Happen
If self-care were to fall off relative to what people identify as an empowering movement, it might be for challenges like people taking it too far and demonstrating a sparse representation. In cases such as these, people may begin to associate self-care with selfishness.
Self-care is meant to be a tool for people to improve their lives in any way that can be positively enhanced. It can be to enjoy and improve life, as well as coping. It’s meant to be a comfort, an ally, and a system belonging to the self. Are people ever going to get tired of that? Only time will tell.
