The male body type that women are most attracted to might not be entirely as subjective as you think. Scientifically, it’s been proven that body type signals health and fertility to potential mates for both sexes, so it makes sense that women are more attracted to certain male body types than others. You might think you’re attracted to a particular type, but science can prove you wrong.
In terms of attraction, it’s been shown that women are mostly swayed by the appearance of a man’s strength, which makes sense.
Way back when, men and women were hunter-gatherers, and women needed men that could hunt, protect, and provide for themselves and their families to survive. This is biologically ingrained in the way our brains function, and it’s a notion that continues today, even if it’s only subconsciously.
What Science Says
A study conducted at both Oklahoma State University and Griffith University in Australia, with the findings published in The Royal Society, showed women images only of men’s torsos with their faces obscured. It was documented that every single woman in the study rated the men who appeared the strongest and most lean to be the most attractive. According to the study, not a single woman chose a weak appearing body type as more ideal.
It may not even be actual strength that determines whether or not a woman is attracted to a male; just the appearance of strength may be enough to signal the brain.
Men that are tall and trim were also determined to appear more attractive to women. Again, this is a biological signal that a man who is taller can offer more protection, and a lack of excessive fat signals better overall health, meaning the man will live longer than another with a worse physical state.
Science always prevails, but what’s most important, and also scientifically proven, is that we remember health should always take precedence over appearance. While there’s nothing, we can do about our height, eating clean and working out are great ways to maintain physical health and not just appeal to women’s sexual attraction. It might be a way of killing two birds with one stone, but the main goal should always be to remain as physically healthy as possible. After all, you should never sacrifice your own well-being for the sake of appealing to others.
