Staying on track with your health and fitness routine can be difficult. There are always plenty of external distractions to make things harder and lots of internal excuses you may find yourself using to avoid exercise and healthy choices. A great way to put yourself in the right mindset for maintaining your health and fitness is to use motivational sayings as an encouragement. To help you stay motivated, here are some phrases used by top athletes to help them keep to their training routine.

“You’re never a loser until you quit trying.” – Mike Ditka

Whenever you start an endeavor, there’s no guarantee that you will succeed at it. The realities of life can always get in the way despite your best efforts. Losers aren’t people who lose or fail at what they are attempting. They are people who stop trying to succeed without a good reason. There’s nothing wrong with changing direction in your life when you realize a particular path isn’t desirable or necessary for you, but giving up just because it’s all gotten a little hard is something you will probably regret.

“The harder the battle, the sweeter the victory.” – Les Brown

If you want to reap the rewards from your fitness efforts, then you need to put in the hard work to make those rewards happen. You don’t need to be making the job of training yourself into a state of fitness any harder than it needs to be, but if you want that sweet victory, then an acceptance of the price to be paid in the hard work involved is necessary. Enjoy each victory and use that enjoyment as a motivation to do the work that leads up to it.

“I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life, and that is why I succeed.” – Michael Jordan

Nobody goes through their life without experiencing failure. And the more you try to succeed, the more failures you will encounter as a matter of sheer statistics. The trick is to learn and gain something from each failure to help make future successes more likely.

“It’s not whether you get knocked down – it’s whether you get up.” – Vince Lombardi

Life has a way of treating you harshly. It’s pretty much impossible to avoid setbacks as there are too many things that can go wrong to prevent or counter all of them. The most powerful tool you have at your disposal is the determination to succeed in the face of adversity.

“Nobody beats Vitas Gerulaitis seventeen times in a row.” – Vitas Gerulaitis

Persistence is a powerful force for guaranteeing success. It doesn’t matter if Bjorn Bjorg defeats you sixteen times in a row. If you keep on trying, then there’s always one more match and one more opportunity to succeed.

Keeping yourself motivated can be hard when the going gets tough, and any tool you can use to stay on the right track is a useful one. Motivational sayings are a great way to remind yourself that adversity can almost always be countered with determination and persistence. Whether you are using these phrases to motivate yourself to improve your health and fitness or for some other purpose, they are a great way to maintain a positive mindset.
