You’re smiling, teeth flashing, and eyes gleaming in the twinkle of holiday lights—everything seems to be alright, but there’s just one small thing: your tummy is not having it. Don’t get me wrong. Your tummy did have it all. The delectable cheese ball appetizers, savory roasted pecan ham, and delicious double fudge cake. It is the season, after all?

If this sounds a pinch familiar, you might understand that your digestive tract is raging around the holidays, and with good reason. Reference these natural remedies for putting your tummy back in party mode.

Warm Lemon Water

Lemon promotes hydration, is a fantastic source of vitamin C, freshens breath, and works wonders for digestion. These qualities, combined with warm water, can really help to clean the belly of any toxins or build-up that are affecting how you feel.

If you find yourself uncomfortably full upon going to sleep, drink a glass before bed, or on an empty stomach upon waking up for best results.

Ginger Tea

Ginger is a renowned anti-inflammatory with a multitude of uses, but it is specifically helpful with digestion. In fact, it is even recommended for pregnant women to avoid morning sickness, as well as chemotherapy patients who experience nausea or vomiting.

Ginger tea is calming for the tummy, both cold and warm. Eating ginger can also be beneficial.

Apples & Apple Cider Vinegar

Apples are rich in fiber, which helps to support gut health. Not to mention speed up digestion. And ultimately clear the chemicals in your system that could lead to stomach upset.

Similarly, apple cider vinegar is another effective way to reduce gas, bloating, heartburn, and overall distension of the stomach that often occurs during the holidays.

Peppermint

Yes, it's festive—but peppermint is the tummy whisperer we're lucky to have. It's known for its ability to soothe gastrointestinal ailments, cramps, heartburn, gas, and more. It's great for any time of day, and at any point before, after, or during stomach upset.

Peppermint oil is even an effective way to treat Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Enjoy it in a tea or oil form.

Aloe Juice

Thought aloe was best for the skin only? All hail aloe for ailments of the belly. It can relieve constipation, keep you hydrated in the event that you're lacking in fluids. As well as, control blood sugar levels which can help to curb extra holiday snacking.

It's an antioxidant and helps to reduce inflammation, as well as acid reflux, gas, and bloating
