Similar to table salt, pink Himalayan salt is mined from the Khewra Salt Mine in Pakistan. The trendy salt gained wide popularity attributed mostly to its potential health benefits.
In reality, pink Himalayan salt is not much different from ordinary salt. Its most significant difference is perhaps its 84 different trace minerals including potassium, magnesium, and calcium, which are the ones responsible for its popular light pink color.
Whether you believe some of these myths or not, it’s important to know that at present, there’s not much scientific evidence out there to back the benefits associated with pink Himalayan salt.
Before you go out and switch your fine-grain table salt with crystals of pink Himalayan salt, remember to enjoy it as you would any other salt – in moderation.
