Sunscreen patrol reporting for duty! Here’s the truth, no one is exempt from the risk of developing skin cancer. UV radiation isn’t just dangerous, it’s also very sneaky. Sun damage can cause premature aging, but that’s the least of our worries. Unsafe exposure to the sun’s UV radiation can also cause skin cancer.
Even when you try to avoid it, the sun will find you. It penetrates clouds and glass, bounces off snow, water, and sand, and yes, even in your office, it gets to you.
The Hidden Dangers of Sun Damage
Since we often ignore how harmful the sun can be, we go on years, even decades ignoring sun damage. Simple activities like walking the dog, driving, working by a window, playing at the park with the kids without wearing sunscreen and proper clothes can all result in skin damage.
Obviously, everyone thinks sun damage can only cause skin cancer – which is scary enough in my humble opinion. But sun damage can also cause:
- Wrinkles
- Sunspots
- Loose skin
- Spider veins
- Ruddy complexion
Not even the most expensive skincare routine will reverse those damages. But don’t worry, I wouldn’t leave you with only scary facts.
As the sunscreen patrol, I’m here to remind you to slather that sunscreen every morning and re-apply it every two hours. And, I’m also here to share some tips on how to prevent skin cancer by protecting yourself from the sun and looking at a comprehensive approach to care for your skin.
