Having a positive self-image is important because it affects how we see and feel about ourselves, as well as how we view other people and what they think of us.

It’s important to have a positive self-image and feel comfortable with who you are. Otherwise, you can’t be your best self and fulfill your potential, because you’re going to be concerned with how others are viewing you.

For some people, it takes a little work to really appreciate who they are. One of the best ways to do this is by reading positive quotes and using positive affirmations.

So, if you’re down on your own self-image, here are some quotes about self-image to read every day that will help reinforce positive thoughts:

“Love yourself. It is important to stay positive because beauty comes from the inside out.” Jenn Proske

“I have come to believe that caring for myself is not self-indulgent. Caring for myself is an act of survival.” Audre Lorde

“Distortions control my self-image, like they do for a lot of us. It’s irrational.” Ron Perlman

“Document the moments you feel most in love with yourself—what you were wearing, who you were around, what you’re doing. Recreate and repeat.” Warsan Shire

“You’ve got to love yourself first. You’ve got to be okay on your own before you can be okay with somebody else.” Jennifer Lopez

“Beauty is when you can appreciate yourself. When you love yourself, that’s when you’re most beautiful.” Zoe Kravitz

“A positive self-image has little relationship to our material circumstances.” Ezra Taft Benson

“Self-image sets the boundaries of individual accomplishment.” Maxwell Maltz

“A poor self-image is the magnifying glass that can transform a trivial mistake or an imperfection into an overwhelming symbol of personal defeat.” David D. Burns

“Love yourself. Enough to take the actions required for your happiness. Enough to cut yourself loose from the drama-filled past. Enough to set a high standard for relationships. Enough to feed your mind and body in a healthy manner. Enough to forgive yourself. Enough to move on.” Steve Maraboli

“Falling in love with yourself first doesn’t make you vain or selfish – it makes you indestructible.” Unknown

“Self-care is never a selfish act — it is simply good stewardship of the only gift I have, the gift I was put on earth to offer to others.” Parker Palmer

“Accept yourself, love yourself, and keep moving forward. If you want to fly, you have to give up what weighs you down.” Roy T. Bennett

“I think everybody’s weird. We should all celebrate our individuality and not be embarrassed or ashamed of it.” Johnny Depp

“In general, for me, a big thing in my life has been just sort of learning what true self-esteem is and what true positive self-image is. And being a dancer, and growing up in that world, you’re so focused on yourself, and you’re so focused on achieving goals, on finding perfection, and working on your craft.” Jenna Dewan

“Consciousness, much like our feelings, is based on a representation of the body and how it changes when reacting to certain stimuli. Self-image would be unthinkable without this representation.” Antonio Damasio

“The easiest time to cure an illness is before it is accepted as a part of the self-image.” Jane Roberts

“If you spent your life concentrating on what everyone else thought of you, would you forget who you really were? What if the face you showed the world turned out to be a mask… with nothing beneath it?” Jodi Picoult

“Beauty’s only skin deep. Everybody has ugly days. We’re all made of the same stuff underneath. Acting right is better than looking right. Realize what makes you special beyond looks. Evil can look pretty on the outside.” Shannon Delany

“Mirrors are perpetually deceitful. They lie and steal your true self. They reveal only what your mind believes it sees” Dee Remy

“If you haven’t found who you are just yet, keep exploring you.” Ricky Maye

“A strong positive self-image is the best possible preparation for success in life.” John C. Maxwell

“Self-image can be improved by gaining new hobbies and skills. The basis of this is: in order to love oneself, one must be someone worth loving. It is easy to feel upset about one’s body if one spends all their time watching Netflix or cruising Facebook. To feel good about oneself, one must improve themselves and take their focus and apply it to things outside themselves.” Zachariah Renfro
