In this time and age where everything is rushed and the notion of “new is always better” seem to rule the world, life can get the better of us. We end up drained, burnt out, and simply exhausted with life in general. Thus, the need to take better care of ourselves. Self care, a practice that enables us to unwind, relax, and place ourselves on top of our priorities, even for just an hour, allows us to get back our bearings so we can have a fulfilling and hopefully, happier life. But where do we even begin? What about listening to a self care podcast?

Podcasts, which are having a tremendous comeback, are a great way to start practicing self care. Everything from brushing yourself off from failures, to getting rid of toxic relationships, to nurturing more meaningful connections with the people around you are covered by such podcasts, making them a great way to exercise the habit of self care. To start with, here are 5 self care podcasts you need to listen to today.

The Minimalists

From the founders of the website bearing the same name comes their self care podcast, hosted by the very founders Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus themselves. Having launched the website in 2010 after realizing that material things in life don’t really bring genuine happiness, they both decided to start living with less and applying it to everything else in their lives. The podcast doesn’t really talk about why you should live with less but it focuses more on how to declutter your life. They tackle topics that range from finances, to parenting, and just about everything under the sun: with the main premise of living with less for a more meaningful life.

Headspace

An award-winning app, Headspace is a user-friendly podcast that guides you on how to unwind, relax, and start each day with a smile on your face. Beyond being an app to teach you meditation. They have a library of over a hundred sessions, with topics ranging from health, to happiness, to overcoming anxiety. Perfect for those who are always on the go, since they have bite-sized talks and even emergency sessions for sudden meltdowns.

10% Happier

From the author of the book with the very same name, 10% Happier is hosted by Dan Harris, an ABC news anchor who had an on-air panic attack, which caused him to discover his own self-betterment. The podcast focuses on the importance of meditation and also features talks with experts, teachers, and even scientists. All delving on mindfulness for dealing with stress and anxiety.

Untangle

Created by the people behind the Meditation Studio app, Untangle is a podcast that features talks on how to slow down in life, reduce stress levels, and create a calmer life. Extraordinary stories from real people are featured, such as talks with Yung Pueblo, a popular poet and writer, who talks about contentment and setting yourself free to change the world; and Dr. Dan Siegel, who talks about your presence as being the most important gift you can give yourself and to other people. Untangle aims to do just as its name suggests – to untangle many aspects in your life that seem to be in array.

Happy Place
