If we place a magnifying lens over the word “care” in self-care, there is quite a lot to unpack when considering what it might mean to different people. Could you be one of the people who would benefit from caring less? Take the poll and let us know.
Understanding Self-Care
Self-care isn’t all seasonal candles and bubble baths. What may very well be an act of self-care for one person based on their lifestyle and needs may be an act of destruction for another. After all, self-care means different things to different people.
For example, if you’re the type of person who always had an interest in baking, self-care for you might be to take a baking course. That same baking course could be the opposite of self-care for someone who hates cooking. Self-care is relative, and its meaning is continually evolving.
Could You Care Less?
Now, in considering whether or not caring less could be an act of self-care for you, there are some key indications:
- Other people’s actions stress you out a lot
- You lack in energy
- You find yourself overthinking
- Your appetite has changed
- You’ve experienced changes in your social behaviors
While these are solid signs that may show you that caring less could be the answer, you know at heart whether or not you’ve overinvested caring in certain aspects of your life. Look within, and trust yourself.
