The chatter in the brain has got a bad rep, and it’s funny because mental chatter is essentially another way to refer to self-talk. The difference is beyond a fine line, and it’s determined by what you say to yourself and how.

Have a Say in Your Self-Talk

Our self-talk often goes unrealized or unconscious. But, wouldn’t it be incredible to influence the words you tell yourself when you’re scraping for motivation or the will to keep going during a workout?

Channel the power of motivation and what strong intentions can do for you. Use your self-talk to power you through the many facets of getting a workout in.

For Getting Hyped 

Ever heard of verbal pre-workout? Get hyped, collect your energy and force, and remind yourself that your power is your decision and no one else's. Not even physical limitations can stop a strong will.

When Your Body is Unsure 

If you're feeling push back from your body, cancel everything out and focus on your breath. You'd be surprised what your body will do naturally when you let go.

For the Pain 

Focusing on your breath can also carry you through the pain. Draw oxygen into the body and muscles with each inhale, and release discomfort upon exhale.

When You're Just Not Feeling it

Hate to hit ya' with the "remember why you started" cliche,' but it's true! Don't forget what drives you to take care of your body and become stronger. Physical strength can be gained with the help of mental strength.

Reaching for Those Final Reps

You never really know the extent of your strength until it's necessary. What's more, it increases with each day. Never underestimate your own power.
