Tis’ not the season to enjoy a bask in the sun as you jog to your liking among greenery, waving to bystanders also enjoying the outdoors. (Unless you’re in Florida, then bask away). But if it’s freezing, ice, and everything but nice outside during winter—don’t worry. You’ve still got options for staying fit.

Don’t know where to start? It’s perfectly acceptable, and as you can expect from GR8NESS, we can help with that.

Resistance Bands

Resistance bands and cables are fantastic for getting a full-body session with minimal equipment. Some come weighted heavier than others, and a set typically includes multiple.

Added resistance can start at bodyweight and gradually increase with the progression of bands used. Their portability makes them accessible in any indoor or outdoor environment. Take them to the gym, or use them at home!

Kettlebells

You may have seen them tossed about in a CrossFit environment in accessory to other workouts, but don't underestimate the power of kettlebells. While dumbbells are designed for steady and somewhat static movements, the shape of kettlebells allows for more aerodynamic use that can be versatile. You'll find these babies in most gyms, but they are great to have at home.

Trampolines

Trampolines might have summer fun written all over them, but indoor mini trampolines are the way to go for winter. These small trampolines are ideal for plyometric workouts, which include rapid contraction of muscles and typically high-intensity cardio. There are classes designed to use these types of trampolines, but you can also store one at home for a winter go-to.

Circuit Training

Circuit training is done in a variety of ways and is mostly utilized in fitness classes. However, circuit training can be done in the comfort of your own home while snow is on the ground.

Circuits are a series of exercises completed in sequential order for several rounds. One round would consist of several respective workouts completed with a specified amount of reps, with little to no rest time between depending on the level of intensity desired.

Rock Climbing

Unless you're a big shot who can build one of these bad boys in your home, these are mostly offered in facilities or gyms. They replicate the outdoor challenge, which is always nice in winter. Rock climbing is ideal for building upper and core strength, and perfect for getting that dose of outdoor adventure in winter.

Yoga

The beauty of yoga is that there are so many ways to do it, and so many places! Don't forget that you can find your flow just about anywhere. It can be done at work, after dinner, while staring at the snow hoping it will melt soon, and even for a better night's sleep. Try anything from a vinyasa or restorative flow. It can be challenging or relaxed.
