GR8NESS Affirmations is your portal for learning to use words as your self-care secret weapon. Words on their own are devices to communicate. They introduce, reinforce, and provoke thoughts. When we choose to use words in an intentional way for our benefit, the result can impact various areas of our lives.
In a sense, it can sound like extra work. Initially and throughout hardships, it may just be. However, learning to give yourself the gift of affirmation is a way of learning to support yourself, similar to how you would for someone you care the upmost about.
Remember, the only place we’re guaranteed to be 100% of the time is in our minds. Our mind is always there, chattering. Depending on our level of consciousness, we may be aware or unaware of this chatter.
It is natural to ignore and silence thoughts that are not pleasant, or incite certain feelings within us. Sometimes, this can lead to discarding consciousness for the sake of prevention. We want to prevent ourselves from absorbing negative feelings that can take a toll on our esteem.
So, we do our best to silence the chatter, but not completely. We can still hear whispers of self-doubt and all of the things we try to shield ourselves from. When this happens on a subconscious level, we have no defense against it.
Yet, there is a defense with consciousness. Consciousness is an embellished way to say “paying attention.” If you’re paying attention, you’re all set and ready to gain the benefits that affirmations have to offer.
Affirmations are a way of gaining back a sense of ground amid the chaos of a chattering mind. Your self-image is influenced dramatically by your self-talk. Similarly, self-talk may also be influenced by self-image. It is common for self-image to mend the way we speak to ourselves without us knowing.
We never intentionally give ourselves the nod of approval to start building up the idea that we’re not as confident as we’d like to be, or some other conclusion. It simply happens. We also never permit ourselves to go from a place where we feel content, to then letting negative thoughts make their mark. This too, just happens organically. We are made to adapt, and we’re quite skilled at it.
Our self-image becomes a reflection of the things we internalize, analyze, and feel. Sometimes this can work for us. Other times, we could use a reset, and that’s okay.
Affirmations are a versatile tool. They can zoom in on our consciousness, making us intently aware of how we talk to ourselves. With some time and patience, they can help change the way we talk to ourselves, which makes all the difference.
There is no shame in resetting your inner voice if need be. Even if it isn’t necessarily hurting you, maintaining its strength and positivity is important. Having a positive voice and productive self-talk can be applied to just about anything in life. Sometimes, it’s as simple as reminding yourself to be grateful.
