Studies show that 4 out of 5 American women wear makeup every day, and makeup for men is on the rise, making it a massive part of our lives.

With so many beauty products out there, it can be hard to decide what to buy.  Surely, they’re all safe if they’re on the market. From foundation to sunscreen, blush, to eye shadow and mascara, there are countless makeup choices.

Harmful Makeup Ingredients Are Everywhere

With so many product choices, the amount of ingredients included in such a wide array is almost endless. However, it turns out that not all of them are safe. Some beauty and makeup products contain ingredients such as heavy metals, or ingredients that might have links to cancer, though reports have been few and far between.

More commonly, there’s a long list of ingredients that have simply been shown to cause negative reactions in a high number of people. These reactions can range from rashes and hives to breakouts and dry skin. The good news is that once you’ve identified which ingredients cause an adverse reaction on your face or body, you can know which ones to steer clear of when you’re making your next purchase.

Reading all the ingredients on beauty and makeup product labels can seem daunting, but in the end, it’s so worth it. Your skin will thank you in the long run. You can check out some makeup brands that are better for your health here.

Our goal is to help your skin be as GR8 as possible. Can you identify the potentially harmful ingredients in each of your beauty products? Take the quiz to find out.
