Understanding the “7 Senses” of Self-Development

There’s no doubt that the most rewarding path to success is through self-development. Through your life’s experiences, you can become more proactive in your efforts, successes, and challenges. Committing to self-development is the first stepping stone in becoming who you want to be.

To get there, however, you must understand the “7 senses” of self-development. These are the secret ingredients for your success recipe.

#1 – Self

Before you can start working on yourself, you need to be aware of who you are. Sit down and write down your values, beliefs, and whatever you wish to pursue. As you gain a better sense of self, you can start planning and pursuing your goals and objectives.

#2 – Curiosity

Curiosity inspires you to push through the unexpected. Throughout the journey of self-development, you cannot let fear prevent you from achieving goals, no matter how intimidating they might be. The sense of curiosity should feel like a sense of adventure so that you can grow.

#3 – Direction

As you feel more confident in yourself and your self-development journey, it’s time to start thinking about your direction. Stay focused on your short-term objectives, but don’t lose sight of what’s needed for your long-term success. Self-development gives you direction, stay committed to achieving your objectives.

#4 – Follow Through

One thing is knowing what you want to achieve. A very different one is acting. Don’t let your goals be statements on a piece of paper, turn them into a reality. There’s so much truth in the saying, “when there’s a will. There’s a way.” If you’re committed to your personal development, you will find a way to make it happen.

#5 – Urgency

To snap out of fear, we need urgency. A sense of urgency fuels inspiration and pushes us to respond to decisions actively. If you want to see self-development progress, you must infuse your thinking with a sense of urgency. One of the downsides of having poor management is missing opportunities; having a sense of urgency prevents these scenarios.

#6 – Resilience

Life happens. We all know life frequently feels like a roller coaster. Whenever we’re down, a sense of resiliency helps us push through. Even if you become a master of self-development, you can’t prevent bad things from occurring. However, if you master a sense of resilience, you can deal with these obstacles better.

#7 – Connectedness

Lastly, you need to develop an understanding of connectedness. Not only with yourself, but with others. When you improve your personal self, you’ll be able to recognize if you have toxic relationships in your life. Having a sense of connectedness will give you the skills to only maintain relationships that add to your life.
