On the conversation of anxiety, generalized anxiety disorder, or (GAD) is a constant, daily disturbance that causes an individual to worry about what feels like outside of their control. Those who suffer from it experience feelings of hesitation and questioning regarding things they face regularly. They expect the worst from people, circumstances, and experiences. Does this seem to describe you?

What Generalized Anxiety Disorder Looks and Feels Like

A disproportionate amount of concern categorizes GAD despite reason. Once this becomes a habit, a person who suffers from GAD can experience trouble merely thinking, and eventually functioning their life.

The symptoms for GAD are not strictly mental, as it has a significant impact on the nervous system,  which serves as a control center that triggers physical reactions. These reactions are as follows:

  • Distorted perception
  • Irritability
  • Muscle Tension
  • Restlessness
  • Headaches
  • Nausea
  • Sweating
  • Frequent Urination
  • Exhaustion
  • Insomnia
  • Trembling
  • Chronic worry
  • Indecisiveness

Causes and Treatments

Causes of GAD are not entirely known, and like many mental health conditions, several things can contribute to its presence. Genetics, brain chemistry, environment, and development can all contribute to the onset.

Treatment Options

Treatment for GAD varies, and speaking with a mental healthcare provider is a way to ensure clinical diagnosis. Once GAD is isolated as a present condition, it can be approached with holistic methods, CBD, psychiatric therapy, and Neurotherapy.

If you or a loved one are experiencing symptoms and feel you may fall within the realm of having GAD, don’t hesitate to reach for assistance.
