At GR8NESS, we understand that self-care means different things to different people. After all, no two people think exactly alike. Not to mention, our self-care practices are meant to change with the seasons, and they transform as we age. As long as we’re sure our views towards self-care remain healthy, it truly doesn’t matter how we chose to bring this wellness practice into our lives.

What Does Self-Care Mean to You? According to GR8NESS Members

With so many ways to incorporate self-care into our daily lives, the question remains – what does self-care mean to people? We asked our GR8NESS community in a GR8 Quiz, and their answers are nothing but inspirational, which is why we wanted to share them with everyone.

“Taking care of my physical, mental, and emotional health in a positive, adaptive, and helpful way.” – Briana Tafoya

“Taking time for yourself with no distractions.” – Jessica

“Self-care, to me, is taking steps to ensure my physical, mental, and emotional needs are met. Examples: taking all my prescriptions; being honest and open with healthcare providers; saying no; saying yes; sticking to my exercise goals; asking for help. Self-care is hard and emotionally draining. But it ultimately results in being happier, healthier, and less stressed.” – Kathe

“Making myself as much of a priority as anyone or anything else because I’m worth it.” – Ris

“At least to me, self-care begins with really good habits for the mind and body. Friendships and relationships support those as we are the average of who we hang around the most.” – Matt

“Self-care means taking care of my health. Drink & Eat healthy food, maintain average Weight, Groom & exercise every day, be kind & be helpful to anyone, have enough sleep. Obey the law.” – GR8NESS member

So, What’s Should a GR8 Self-Care Routine Look Like?

The truth is there’s no right or wrong answer here. The GR8EST self-care routine is the one that works for you. To give you an idea, we’ve also asked our community to share what their self-care routines look like. Here’s what some of our members had to say.

“Extremely minimal. I’m trying to pick up reading on a normal basis again.” – Stephanie

“At night, I like to head to bed an hour early. Put on my EO diffuser and make my bedroom smell like a spa. I then light a candle and listen to quiet music. Then before I fall asleep, I do a meditation. So peaceful!” – Bre

“I make sure to start every morning with a fresh cup of coffee, a little reading and reflection, and prayer for my day and for those I care about. And these days, with a little baby in the home, I often bring her along to sit on daddy’s lap and join in!” – GR8NESS member

“I always try to remove my makeup at night, so I feel like I’ve washed away the day to start a new. I go to sleep feeling relaxed and ready to start the next day with a fresh canvas.” – Lindsey K.
