When is the Best Time of Day to Take CBD?

The cannabinoid CBD has become popularized for its medicinal benefits. So far, the only FDA approved form of CBD is used to treat epilepsy and seizures. However, research suggests that it can help with many other conditions and ailments. Understanding CBD as facts and studies continue to surface is a challenge and requires keeping up with current information.

There is a lot to know about the classifications of CBD and what they have to offer. Among the information to become aware of is how to choose the optimal time of day to consume it for you.

The Effects of CBD are Relative

There are countless variables to consider when questioning what the best time of day for consumption might be for you. The sheer reality is that CBD as a substance affects all bodies differently. It depends on a person’s body chemistry, their medical history, genetics, and then, of course, the method of consumption and dosage.

Best Time to Take CBD

That said, there isn’t one time of day that’s best for everyone. There is no CBD witching hour, friends. We will not eventually see people reaching for their tinctures at the same time as though programmed. There are, however, some general guidelines on how CBD might affect you if taken at a particular time of day.

CBD in the Morning

Taking CBD in the morning might be a gamble if you’re beginning to introduce it. Stick with a low dosage to avoid taking too much. Having too much in the morning, especially if on an empty stomach, may result in a drowsy effect. However, taking it in smaller dosages may provide an energizing effect.

Some CBD-friendly coffee shops offer the option to add CBD to your coffee. For some, this may enhance the effects of caffeine, while for others, it may instead balance out the effect making the caffeine milder. This could work well for someone who is sensitive to or does not tolerate caffeine well.

Taking CBD in the morning may also be beneficial for those who take it for anxiety or inflammation. A morning dosage may help to relieve symptoms that otherwise may have flared up, as well as work to prevent the onset of future symptoms throughout the day.

CBD Throughout the Day

For those who want to benefit from CBD all day long, a stronger serving throughout the day may be best. However, this should be done with care and is not advised if you have not spoken with a physician. Taking small doses of CBD at lunch or during the early afternoon may also be an alternative to other afternoon pick-me-ups when you’re searching for energy.

You can try one of these CBD-infused recipes for an afternoon snack.

CBD in the Evening

Taking CBD at night might be best for those looking to obtain its relaxation benefit. Higher dosages at night will contribute to the drowsiness effect it can have. This is the best time of day for those who are unfamiliar with its effects or beginning to use it. If you find that a certain dosage makes you too sleepy, you’ll have time and availability to sleep it off and have a good rest at that.

Other Guidelines to Consider:

A Note from GR8NESS

Please be advised that these are general tips, and your physician should approve the safe usage of CBD. Please note that most CBD products are not regulated, and that long-term effects are still to be determined.
