How to Start Working Out with Your Partner

Participate in a Fitness Challenge Together

If you and your partner need a little extra motivation to work out, it’s well worth signing up for a fitness related challenge such as a fun run or a triathlon, together. As once you’ve committed to participating in a fitness challenge, you’ll be more motivated to train for your event together. As a bonus, when you complete your chosen fitness challenge, you’ll be able to celebrate together.

Sign up for Fitness Class Together

While you may not have the courage to take up a new workout class such as kickboxing or spin on your own, you may really enjoy taking up a new workout class with your partner. As couples who learn new skills together and push their boundaries together are more likely to bond and to stay together.

Take a Partners Yoga Class

One way to strengthen your core, as well as your relationship, is to sign up for a partner focused yoga class, where you’ll get to learn how to complete challenging duo poses. Not only is yoga a great full body workout, which will engage your core and tone your body, but you’ll also learn how to communicate better with your partner. As you’ll have to communicate well and work as a team to successfully pull off new partner poses.

Create Your Own Home Gym

Another way to ensure that you work out with your partner on a daily basis is to turn your garage or a spare room into a home gym. As an example, you may want to complete partner-based yoga routines in your home gym or you may want to complete HIT workouts on an app on your phone together, as the only equipment which you’ll need is two yoga mats. Alternatively, you can’t go wrong purchasing two treadmills or two spin bikes, in order to work out side-by-side, in your free time.

Plan weekly dates which involve finding creative ways to work out together Contrary to popular belief, working out can be fun, especially with the love of your life. As an example, during the weekends, you may want to find new hiking trails to explore together. If you like this particular idea, you may want to pack a healthy picnic when you get to the summit of the next trail which you hike with your partner. Alternatively, you may want to hire a pair of stand-up paddleboards, in order to explore a local beach or lake or to purchase rock climbing passes at a nearby rock climbing facility.

Focus on Bettering Yourself, Not Beating Your Partner

If you are in constant competition with your partner, you won’t encourage your partner to succeed, which isn’t healthy. Instead keep your focus on improving your own fitness, while being a supportive cheerleader for your partner. If you’re keen to get started and to reap the benefits of working out with your partner, it’s well worth sharing these workout ideas for couples with your better half.
